What Is Labiaplasty?

Many women are bothered by labia that are misshapen, show through in certain clothing, hurt while engaging in some activities, or cause them to feel embarrassed. Protruding, malformed or distorted labia are fairly common. Genetics, child birth, and aging can cause the labia to protrude. This issue is nothing to be embarrassed about and, like many other bothersome issues, can be corrected easily.

Today, women are not resigned to live with this condition. With a labiaplasty, the labia are reshaped in a 1-2 hour in office surgical procedure. The area is fully numbed using local numbing medications, so more risky anesthesia is not necessary. Most women are able to resume normal, light activities in days.

The final shape, smaller and aligned with the labia majora, is natural.  Sensitivity and function are always preserved. Visible scars, irregularity, hypersensitivity, and deformity are avoided.

No two women are alike, nor should they be.

The goal of labiaplasty is not to meet some culturally-imposed ideal, but to restore confidence and comfort to women with labia that bother them. Each labiaplasty is customized to achieve the individual woman’s desired result and needs.

What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Vaginoplasty, or vaginal tightening, rejuvenates a woman’s vagina by tightening muscles and repairing tissues. Weak muscles, poor tone, and flaccid skin are targeted and corrected with this surgical procedure.

When the vagina becomes too lax, this can place stress on a relationship, because the sexual function of the vagina is diminished. This can lead to unsuccessful relationships and embarrassment. The obvious benefit of vaginoplasty is improvement of sexual gratification for both partners. There are more advantages of vaginal tightening surgery that include:

  • Improving the outer appearance (labiaplasty) can also be performed in conjunction for an improved appearance
  • If a poor episiotomy was performed during childbirth, a perineum repair can be done in conjunction with vaginal tightening surgery
  • Help with urinary incontinence, by improving the tone and strength of the tissues that support the bladder

Labia Puffing Treatment

Like the rest of our body, the labia are susceptible to signs of aging. The outer labia wrinkles and loses skin elasticity and tone. Decreasing estrogen and extreme weight loss are common causes of labial deflation. Labia that appear flat and sagging ages the appearance of the vulva. Furthermore, the loss of tone in the labia majora can create discomfort during sex, because of excessive friction and impact. Fortunately, a quick and non-surgical injectable filler procedure can rejuvenate and plump up aging labia. The fillers, similar to those of lip injections, our office uses can help restore the youthful appearance of your intimate area instantly.

Procedure & Recovery

Dr. Bloy is able to perform most labiaplasty and vaginal rejuvenation procedures in the comfort of our office’s surgical room. Because this treatment usually does not require general anesthesia, patients are able to be completely numbed using only local numbing medication. Our patients are pleased to avoid the unnecessary risk of infection and inconvenience of the hospitals and anesthesia.

Recovery is generally comfortable and quick when patients follow post-operative care instructions. it is best to stay off your feet most of the time for the first few days. Taking it easy, reclining with pelvis elevated, and avoiding any strenuous lifting allow for optimal healing. Most patients are able to return to work in 3-7 days. Recovery may be longer after more extensive procedures. This can be best predicted during your consultation.

Abstinence from sexual intercourse, similar to after childbirth, is essential to allow the area to fully heal and reduce the risk of infecting or damaging the area. Sexual intercourse can be resumed at 4-6 weeks if there is no pain.

Multiple procedures may be performed at the same time, eliminating the need for extra time off from work and activities. Downtime will depend on the extent of the repair or reconstruction necessary, is highly individual, and will be discussed at the consultation.

“I have been contemplating labiaplasty for some time now. I only have one child and my issues with my labia were not due to childbirth. Obviously, this particular subject matter could even make the most self-assured a bit uncomfortable. Yet, there was never a moment that I felt judged in any way by Dr. Bloy or anyone in his office. Everyone …across the board… was supportive and reassuring.

The procedure was done under local anesthesia which made the choice easier for me. I did not even require medication to calm me down or sedate me, so I was able to drive myself to and from the appointment. The procedure was pain-free. I was in and out in under two hours with my brand new and pretty vagina!

I cannot begin to say enough times how highly I recommend Dr. Bloy and his office in Ft. Myers, Florida. They did everything but jump through hoops for me to make the experience streamlined and effortless. Dr. Bloy’s years of experience and caring heart will put you at ease every step of the way.”
