What is the procedure?
Getting your CoolPeel or Tetra CO2 rejuvenation is simple. First, arrive for your appointment 1 hour early for numbing cream application, wearing a loose fitting top, with no contacts in, no jewelry on, and a clean face (or treatment area), if possible. We apply the numbing cream.
If necessary and appropriate, we will give you some relaxing medication, Ativan, to ease any anxiety and make treatment more comfortable. With Ativan, you will need a driver to pick you up at the end of your appointment.
For those who prefer, we offer Nitronox gas to make treatment more comfortable. Ask your provider about options.
While the treatment area is numbing, you can relax, watch a movie or nap comfortably in our treatment chair. After 1 hour or so, your numbing cream is wiped off and your lasering begins. If we are treating your eyelids, special protective eye shields will be used. Finally, we will allow the area to cool and provide you with a kit of Noon Brand aftercare ointments and products to soothe and protect your freshly ablated skin.
How long does the procedure last?
The appointment takes around 1.5+ hours, depending on the areas being treated. Numbing cream is applied for 1 hour.
CoolPeel laser pulses are delivered in 15 minutes, Tetra laser pulses take a bit longer.
Treatment is always longer for larger or multiple areas.
Does it hurt?
The procedure is tolerable and any discomfort only lasts moments. The area is well numbed for 1 hour prior to the procedure.
To make treatment more comfortable for sensitive individuals or anyone who wants to increase treatment comfort, we offer Nitronox gas. Ask your provider about options.
Patients may feel heat on the lasered skin, but this eases shortly after treatment. Â Noon aftercare skincare products are designed to soothe and care for the newly treated skin while it heals. We provide this kit with your treatment at no additional charge.
Is it safe?
Yes. Treatment settings are adjusted for individual safety and goals.
Fractional laser leaves fractions of skin intact, so the risk of complications is extremely low. We have not had any serious complication ever with CoolPeel and Tetra Co2 fractional lasering. Pigmentation issues are a possibility with any laser procedure, but we take measures to reduce this risk and avoid any issues, including patient selection assuring this is an appropriate treatment.
What is the downtime
Downtime is customizable to meet your availability. Laser settings can be adjusted to result in only 1 day for a lighter treatment or up to a full week of downtime for a more intense treatment. You tell us and we adjust the settings to meet your need. Remember, though, that the longer the downtime, the higher the settings, equals more the results.
What is the recovery?
Recovery is short and the treated area will heal fast with easy aftercare.
Take Advil or Tylenol and apply an icy cold washcloth for any mild discomfort the first day or so. Swelling is a normal and vital phase of healing. Depending on the settings used, you can expect mild to intense swelling for a day or more. Always wash gently and reapply the Noon Brand healing serums and ointments to continue to protect the area while it is healing. Do not expose the treated area to unprotected sun for 4 weeks after treatment to avoid damaging the newly resurfaced skin.
Your provider will provide individualized aftercare instructions to you and feel free to ask any questions at anytime.
